Sidney Jacobs
Sid R. Jacobs, Ph.D., is a veteran, sociologist, poet, and former college professor. He was raised in Wade, North Carolina by his loving Grandmother, “Ma,”, “Mother Berl” and “Other Mothers.” He attended Fayetteville State University before enlisting in the US Air Force, serving at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. At the apex of his 13-year military career, he was a narcotics detector dog
handler and a member of the elite Tactical Neutralization Team (TNT). He furthered his education at the University of Delaware where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history (and a minor in Black American Studies), as well as a master’s degree and doctorate in sociology. His areas of expertise include: race, class, gender, reentry, and deviance. More, he uses poetry to deliver his “sociology.”
Dr. Jacobs recently published his first book entitled Freedom Poems: Poems to Live, Love, Fight, Die, and Resurrect By (Balboa Press).
