Prime Time Family Reading

Prime Time Family Reading

Prime Time Family Reading is a nationwide program which introduces 6 to 10-year-old children and their families to the humanities through storytelling and discussions that build the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning. During a Prime Time program, a storyteller reads a children’s book and then families are guided through discussion to personally connect with literature through open-ended questioning. These programs model strategies for continued family bonding through literature and provide families with critical information for continued reading.

Delaware Humanities works with organizations (libraries, schools, etc.) to bring Prime Time Family Reading to your community. Delaware Humanities pays the licensing fees, for the books, and for host site training, as well as provides each host site with a stipend to cover certain costs. The host sites advertises the opportunity to their community and organizes each weekly session. Prime Time runs for six consecutive weeks.

Is your organization interested in learning more about the program and potentially becoming a host? We are still looking for sites to host Spring 2025, so please contact us!
