The primary objective of this position is to connect Delaware Humanities with its target audiences and increase their engagement with our organization.
Responsibilities
- Effectively use language, both oral and written, to communicate the story of Delaware Humanities’ programs and grantmaking and its role in assuring Delawareans experience an exceptional quality of community life.
- Utilize various media formats (video, audio, photography) to enhance storytelling and create a rich, immersive experience for our audience.
- Leverage social media platforms to share stories, engage with the audience, and drive traffic to our website and other content channels.
- Identify, write, and/or edit media materials and story pitches, such as opinion pieces, letters to the editor, and articles.
- Create marketing plan and oversee development of marketing materials.
- Manage Delaware Humanities’ brand strategy across all platforms and with grant recipients and program partners.
- Develop strategies to engage with our audience of organizations, individuals, and donors, respond to feedback, and adapt content to meet their needs and interests.
- Coordinate and manage Delaware Humanities’ podcast.
- Oversee tracking and reporting of social media and website engagement.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in journalism and storytelling, and experiment with new formats and technologies to keep our content fresh and relevant.
- Work closely with other team members and as necessary photographers, videographers, graphic designers, marketing professionals, and other content creators to produce high-quality content.
Skills
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with a strong portfolio of published work.
- Strong understanding of digital media, social media platforms, and SEO best practices.
- Ease with technology, including AI.
- Ability to form strong relations with the media.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Experience: At least five years of experience in journalism, storytelling, marketing or a related field.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of the humanities and their value.
- Learning mindset.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, nonexempt position starting at $55,000-60,000 based upon experience. The benefits include health insurance, paid vacation and sick time, and 403(b) retirement plan.
Delaware Humanities observes a four-day work week with the office closed on Fridays. This is a hybrid position; however, employees are expected to work in the office and travel throughout the state as their work requires.
