In Memoriam: Delaware Humanities Speaker Joel Glazier
July 11, 2017
Delaware Humanities both mourns and celebrates the life of Delaware Humanities Council board member and Speaker’s Bureau lecturer Joel F. Glazier, who died in Wilmington on Friday, July 7.
A lifelong teacher, Mr. Glazier reveled in learning and passing that learning on to others. In 2004, he began a three-year stint on our board, and then joined the Speaker’s Bureau. A lifelong Beatles fan, he received Beatles Certification from Oxford University; audiences for his lectures through the Speakers Bureau raved about the expanse of his knowledge and his enthusiasm on the subject.
An extensive traveler, Mr. Glazier sent postcards to the Delaware Humanities Staff from his far-flung adventures, often highlighting some small bit of local lore or scenic byway, allowing us to share in his adventures.
Mr. Glazier is survived by his two brothers, two nephews, and one niece, along with many other relatives and friends. We will long remember his generous and entertaining personality, and are grateful for his contributions to our organization. You can read his newspaper obituary here.
