One of America’s best-known architectural symbols is the covered bridge. Once a vital transportation link, it has been bypassed by super highways and relegated to lesser-used country roads. But many of these surviving and restored structures have fostered nostalgia and become a source of community pride responsible for festivals, tourism and a deeper understanding of local history. Delaware’s three remaining covered bridges, as well as those in nearby states, are featured in this program.
