Media Matters: A Toolkit for Understanding and Assessing Sources

Knowing how to critically analyze media is an essential skill for navigating our world today. On any given day, we are exposed to many strong opinions that are based on information that people have gathered from a variety of sources.

How do you decide for yourself what information is reliable? How do we become informed citizens?

To help answer these questions, Delaware Humanities has put together “Media Matters,” a toolkit for understanding and assessing sources.  This colorful 26-page booklet goes over the different types of sources, how to critically analyze sources, common forms of media, and at the end includes an interactive activity and area to take notes.  This booklet is perfect for grades 7-12.

Free digital copies are available to all teachers.
